After patients have had the InterStim device implanted, we have several options to change programs and assist you with your symptoms of urinary urgency, frequency, and urge incontinence. The InterStim device, also known as an IPG, contains a very small antenna with which we can communicate with the device through your skin utilizing a handheld programmer.
Following your surgery, we will teach you how to program the device and you will be able to make adjustments at home. When necessary, we will make arrangements for you to come in and see Ann for any further programming problems or needs. Having this programmer and being able to adjust the device will help us improve and manage your symptoms over time.
