Urinary Frequency and Urgency

There can be a variety of causes for symptoms of urinary urgency, frequency, and urge incontinence. Some patient’s simply consume too much fluid or fluids that irritate the bladder throughout the day. Other patients have a primary problem with the bladder such as an Overactive Bladder. An additional cause of these symptoms could be a weakness of the pelvic floor and beyond that sometimes there is difficulty with the bladder’s ability to communicate with the brain.

Depending on the cause of your urinary issues, we may choose different options including monitoring and adjusting your fluid intake or the beverages you consume, prescribing a medication to help relax the bladder, prescribing pelvic floor exercises to help strengthen the pelvic floor muscles or utilizing a form of therapy called Neurostimulation to help the bladder and the brain communicate more effectively.
