Tweet-a-Thon September 30th
September is National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, a month set aside to recognize and support men and families with prostate cancer. In recognition, the American Urological Association is hosting a twelve-hour Prostate Cancer “Tweet-a-Thon” on Tuesday, September 30th.
The Tweet-a-Thon will take place, on Twitter, from 8:00 a.m. and continue until 8:00 p.m. EST.
Throughout the day, members of the urology community will use Twitter to lead discussions on a wide variety of prostate cancer topics including prevalence, risk factors, screening, research, treatment options, and quality of life issues.
Everyone is invited to participate!
Leading the Conversation
Over the past several years, urologists have embraced a wide variety of social media platforms to help educate and advocate for their patients. Recently, Drive 4 Men’s Health founders, Drs. Brahmbhatt and Parekattil, created this “man talk” video for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
On Tuesday, this trend will continue as urologists from around the world take turns leading the discussion on Twitter. These social savvy physicians include.
Dr. Phil Abbosh | Dr. Chris Bayne | Dr. Matt Cooperberg | Dr. David Crawford
Dr. Ben Davies | Dr. Scott Eggener | Dr. Henry Woo | Dr. Stacy Loeb
Dr. Kelly Parsons | Dr. Rajiv Singal

Return to the Conversation
This is the second year the American Urological Association is hosting the Prostate Cancer Tweet-a-Thon. Last year, I was working but still able to actively participate in the conversation between clinic visits; this year looks to be the same. That’s one of the many great things about Twitter – the ability to jump in and out of the conversation as one’s schedule allows.
I hope that my patients and their families will take advantage of the #AUAUroChat #ProstateCancer discussion. It’s a great opportunity to interact and learn from a variety of experts in the field of prostate cancer.
Let’s grow the conversation! You’ll find me there – @StorkBrian.
