Supporting Local and Global Communities
Regular readers of my blog know how much I love my community and share many attributes of living in my beautiful state of Michigan. In the fall, football fans across the state can be found cheering “Go Blue!” in support of the University of Michigan.
Going Blue in September
This September, I learned that “going blue” takes on a whole new meaning as a way to advance research for prostate cancer with the “Blue September” campaign in Australia and around the world.
As a urologist, I also love being a part of the global healthcare community. By participating in healthcare Twitter Chats – like #urojc (The International Urology Journal Club on Twitter), I have made many friends from the around the world, and Down Under. One such connection is fellow urologist Nick Brook M.D. from Australia. Nick was kind enough to invite me to guest post on his blog where you can learn more about supporting the “Blue September” campaign.
Support of global awareness movements like “Blue September” remind us that we are working together with new social tools to make quality of life better around the world.
I am going blue for Blue September, and hope you will, too. But come this November, will I “Go Blue” for the University of Michigan football team or “Go Hawks” for the University of Iowa – where I went to Medical School? Hmm, I will probably be twisting a mustache on that one in support of Movember!
Thanks for your huge support for this cause, Brian. Your excellent site continues to lead the way in digital information for urology.
All the best
Nick
